| The 《Opinions on Further Reducing the Homework Burden and Off campus Training Burden of Students in Compulsory Education Stage》 was issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the General Office of the State Council in 2021.The policy proposes to "comprehensively reduce the total amount and duration of student homework,strengthen the main role of school education,and deepen the governance of off campus training institutions".The issue of reducing the burden on students has always been a hot topic.Although the call for reducing the burden has never stopped,primary school students are still overwhelmed by the heavy academic burden,and homework is an important reason for the heavy homework burden on students.This study mainly investigates the current situation of Chinese homework in the third stage of primary school under the background of "double reduction",identifies existing problems,and proposes reasonable suggestions.In this study,240 students and six language teachers from a total of six classes of grade 5 and 6 in primary school N in city B and six parents were used as respondents.Using questionnaire,interview and text analysis methods to analyse the results of the survey on the current situation of language homework in the third grade of primary school,I found that the problems of current language homework in primary school are: the amount of homework is large,the "double reduction The implementation of the "double reduction" policy remains superficial;there is a single type of homework and a lack of practical homework;the homework is of the same difficulty and lacks hierarchy;the homework comes from a single source and lacks connection with life;the homework evaluation method lacks variety;and the phenomenon of parents directly doing the work for them is common.The author analyses the reasons for the current problems with language homework in primary schools: the lack of management of school policies;teachers’ lack of understanding of the "double reduction" policy;the influence of exam-oriented education on the implementation of the "double reduction" policy;the lack of coordination of the total amount of homework by teachers of various subjects;and the lack of clarity in the roles of teachers and parents.The role of teachers and parents is not clear.In view of the problems,the author has put forward rationalised suggestions from three aspects: schools,teachers and parents,in relation to the "double reduction" policy.The results of the study are expected to be of some reference value for the optimisation of language homework in the third year of primary school in the future. |
