Actively exploring the development path of traditional athletics schools and implementing the education concept of "health first" in the integration of sports and education are very important for expanding the training of athletic reserve talents,promoting the construction of sports culture in traditional athletics schools,deepening the integration of sports and education,helping the construction of a healthy China,and solving the shortage of athletic reserve talents and the problem of declining physical health of youth in China.This paper uses literature,questionnaires,and surveys to investigate the problem of the decline of youth physical health.In this paper,through the research methods of literature,questionnaire survey and expert interview,the current situation of 10 high schools with traditional characteristics in athletics in Wuhan City is taken as the research object,and the data obtained are processed by factor analysis to extract four public factors that affect the development of high schools with traditional characteristics in athletics in Wuhan City,which are named as guarantee factor,teacher factor,training factor and policy factor.The main findings of the study are as follows.1.high school track and field traditional characteristic schools in Wuhan are widely distributed,but the overall number needs to be increased,especially in some administrative districts far from the main city such as Hannan District and Huangpi District,where there are no high schools selected as track and field traditional characteristic schools.2.Among the high school track and field traditional schools in Wuhan,most of them are funded by the Education Bureau and the Sports Bureau,but some of them do not have enough funds to meet their expenses and have a single source of funding.3.The coaching team of Wuhan high school track and field schools with traditional characteristics has a reasonable configuration,the number of coaches of each age group is balanced,and the coaches have a strong sense of responsibility and treat their work strictly and seriously.However,the scientific research level of coaches is low,and the scientific degree of training is difficult to be improved,which is not conducive to the long-term development of the school.4.Wuhan high school track and field traditional characteristic schools actively hold interschool competitions and encourage athletes to actively participate in competitions,but the limited opportunities for athletes to participate in large competitions and the lack of experience in participating in large competitions are not conducive to motivating athletes to study and train;in terms of training,the training plan is relatively reasonable,but the contradiction between study and training still exists,which restricts the improvement of athletes’ comprehensive quality and competitive level.In view of the extracted influencing factors and the situation of high school track and field traditional characteristic schools in Wuhan,the following optimization paths are proposed: 1.improve the external guarantee mechanism and optimize the venue equipment.2.strengthen the teacher team construction and improve the overall teacher level.3.optimize the training mode and alleviate the contradiction between learning and training.4.increase the policy publicity and broaden the funding sources.
