Research On The Influence Of Housing Status On Subjective Class Identity Of Urban Youth

With the reform of housing marketization,housing has evolved from the most primitive living space to a collection of multi-dimensional attributes such as asset accumulation advantages and power acquisition media.Driven by the market,the wealth accumulation effect of housing and the symbolic capital reflected behind it stimulate the pursuit of "identity" of social individuals for the possession of real estate resources.This fact supports and solidifies the concept of "class",and housing has also become a reference benchmark for comparing and showing the social status and social attitudes of various classes,and more reflects its deep relationship with subjective class positioning perception,evolution and structure.Based on symbolic consumption theory and housing class theory,this study uses descriptive statistical analysis to verify the basic differences and distribution status of urban youth housing status and subjective class identity based on the data of the 2018 China Comprehensive Social Survey(CGSS),constructs a structural equation model,and empirically studies the mechanism of housing status on subjective class identity.Finally,it is explored whether the model of causal relationship between housing status and subjective class identity between multiple groups is consistent with the hypothesis.The results are as follows: First,the distribution of urban youth housing status and subjective class identity.1.China’s urban youth have a low real estate occupancy rate and weak property rights advantages;2.Urban youth’s identification with their current class positioning and socio-economic status is low,showing a downward trend,but their future class identification is generally upward;3.Urban male youth occupy more housing resources and married young people own more personal real estate than urban unmarried youth;4.There are significant differences between urban youth’s current class identity and socioeconomic status and gender and marriage.Second,it aims at the influence effect of urban youth housing status on subjective class identity.1.There is a direct positive effect on subjective class identity of urban youth;2.Participation in leisure activities plays a partial intermediary role and is a positive effect.Third,a multi-group analysis of the influence of urban youth housing status on subjective class identity.1.The influence of urban youth housing status on subjective class identity has the validity of marriage across groups;2.The influence of urban youth housing status on subjective class identity varies due to occupational power.In view of the above research conclusions,this paper mainly puts forward two suggestions: first,improve the housing security mechanism and adhere to the positioning of "living without speculation";The second is to strengthen the construction of leisure activity facilities and create positive conditions for participation.This research period hopes to provide experience for coping with the problem of class identity downward migration of urban youth and creating a positive social atmosphere.
