Since 2020,the New Coronavirus epidemic has been spreading rampantly around the world.the city of S suffered another forced invasion of the New Coronavirus variant in March 2022,and colleges and universities are a major key field in this round of epidemic prevention and control.Under the impact of this risk, different students in universities present differential behavioral performance.Guided by Habermasian behavior classification theory and social amplification theory of risk, this paper collects data through interview and participant observation methods and systematically analyzes the data obtained to explore the types of differential risk coping behaviors of college students and the mechanisms behind them,as well as to provide insights into the behaviors of students in the event of a major public health emergency. We also propose a professional action framework for social work on the impact of major public health emergencies on students, and provide experience for subsequent participation of social work in prevention and response to public health emergencies in colleges and universities. The study found that college students faced health, adaptive and information erosion risks during the epidemic.Four categories of college students’ risk coping behaviors were identified:purposive behaviors, including self-adjustment and support seeking;normative regulatory behaviors, including voluntary participation and self-protection;interactional behaviors, including emotional mutual aid and information mutual aid;and dramatic behaviors, including protest behaviors and extreme behaviors.Students develop these differentiated risk coping behaviors under the combined effect of information context and perceived practice.Specifically, media exposure is a prerequisite for students’ risk perception;social environment can shape behaviors through organizational and institutional mobilization mechanisms, trust and peer relationship mechanisms, and radiation mechanisms of others’ behaviors;students decode and evaluate information and situations based on their individual values, knowledge and experiences, and form differentiated risk perceptions and thus make different risk coping behaviors;positive or negative behavioral feedback is the main basis for students’ subsequent behavioral positive or negative feedback is the main basis for students’ subsequent behavioral responses.Dramatic behavior can cause amplification of social risk, and the generation of this behavior is closely related to students’ media overexposure or underexposure, the influence of adverse public opinion environment and social relations, and the individual’s own risk experience. On this basis, this study proposes a feasible path for social work to intervene in the risk resilience capacity building of college students under the epidemic, which are:first, enhance the risk resilience of college students through key population attention and service actions;Second, through information governance, build a healthy and fair media platform, create a good public opinion environment, and improve students’ ability to identify information and identify rumors.Third, through the construction of social resilience, strengthen social relations and resource support network construction, enhance social trust and solidarity, and improve the risk response ability of college students;Fourth, through the exploration of the "Internet+social work" model, give full play to the advantages of technology empowerment and improve the effectiveness of social work intervention in abnormal situations.
