Children are the talent reserve for the future development of the society.Creating a social environment conducive to children’s growth is of profound significance to the future of the country and the nation.At present,under the background of child-friendly community construction,all kinds of social public service projects and policies aimed at providing spiritual and material security for children emerge at the historic moment in China.As the hardware guarantee of children’s activities,the construction of children’s space facilities plays a crucial role in the construction of child-friendly community.Children’s public activity space,as an indispensable place in children’s life and one of the key points to promote the construction of child-friendly communities,not only provides basic services,but also has the power to drive the public to work together to improve the living environment and deal with community problems.How to encourage children and other people from all walks of life to participate in the construction of public space is also of great significance for promoting the cultivation of children’s ability to participate in public affairs,and is conducive to comprehensively promoting the construction of child-friendly communities.However,for a long time,adults have the inertia of making decisions and intervening instead of children,resulting in insufficient participation of children in the process of space construction.Due to their special linking,integration and linkage functions in community construction,social workers empower each participant,thus making it possible for children to participate in space construction independently.Based on the empowerment theory,this study studies how social workers can empower children and other people from all walks of life to participate in space construction with their professional strength,so as to better create a space that provides children with fun,rights and safety protection.It is found that the intervention strategies adopted by social workers are as follows:at the individual level,social workers train the core capacity of space construction for children,parents and other participants,stimulate their willingness to participate in space construction,and carry out psychological empowerment and technical empowerment,so that they can get rid of their unconscious and passive mentality of participating in community affairs.In the concrete space construction link,social workers through the cultivation of professional knowledge and skills to enable children to have sufficient knowledge and have enough say,and promote their own socialization process;At the interpersonal level,social workers empower children by organizing the children’s council,parents and schools and other community self-organizations,teaching children how to properly use power and make decisions in the children’s council,giving members full participation and decision-making rights in the program design stage,and encouraging children to form maintenance conventions through mutual communication and consultation in the maintenance stage.Through the experience of space construction results and joint maintenance to enhance the familiarity and interpersonal harmony between residents;At the community level,social workers provide relevant training and guidance to neighborhood committees through resource empowerment,enhance their professional community mobilization ability,and gradually carry out in-depth implementation of child-friendly concepts in terms of concept,laying the groundwork for the smooth implementation of subsequent child-friendly space construction projects and attracting more community residents.Secondly,in the process of activity review and feedback,the social workers carried out psychological empowerment for the participating teams,which not only enhanced the enthusiasm to participate in community public affairs in the future,but also expanded the influence in the community,so as to attract potential residents to participate with rich activities and excellent construction results.The above measures not only create more opportunities for the project of child-friendly space construction,but also extensively connect social resources from all points and aspects to make the construction of child-friendly community space in L community sustainable development.Finally,this study puts forward some suggestions for social workers’involvement in child-friendly space construction projects:First,at the technical level,social workers should combine the thinking of different disciplines and promote the innovation ability of community service with more new technologies;Secondly,from the psychological level,it is necessary to build a communication platform among community residents,and with the help of various activities,stimulate the interest and desire of service objects with different needs to participate in community public affairs,and consolidate the endogenous power of community participation.Thirdly,at the power level,we should open up channels for community residents to express their appeals and various sources of information,make joint efforts to maintain residents’ decision-making rights and participation rights in community public affairs,and give full play to the supportive and educational role of social work.Fourthly,at the resource level,social workers should play a good role of coordination and guidance,cooperate with superior government departments to integrate multiple resources in the community to better serve community governance,and carry out effective transmission of ideas and orderly transmission of resources.By analyzing the experience of social workers involved in the construction of child-friendly Spaces,this study hopes to provide some reference for the construction of child-friendly Spaces in urban communities or the empowerment of social workers in other community public affairs.
