| With China’s increasing emphasis on life education,the concept of life education was gradually proposed in the exploration of educational reform in national education since 2010.In 2021,the Ministry of Education fully integrated life safety and health education into primary and secondary school education.Currently,in compulsory education,the content of life education covers a wide and rich range of aspects.At the same time,the primary school stage is a key stage for children to establish their worldviews and outlooks on life,as well as an important stage for their growth and development.However,students at this stage are relatively young and lack corresponding awareness and attention to life and themselves.Therefore,it is necessary for teachers to carry out life education on self-awareness for students with targeted approaches.Based on academic explorations related to the implementation of life education,this study selected the theme of "human and itself" out of the three major themes of life education:"human and itself","human and society" and "human and nature".The study designed three rounds of teaching activities in a fourth-grade class at N school around this theme using picture books related to "human and itself" in life education as teaching materials,applying the action research model of"plan-action-observation-reflection-action".Through the implementation of the curriculum,the study aimed to promote the development of primary school students’ self-awareness,which helps shape their correct worldview and values and cultivate good qualities such as respect for life,cherishing life,and loving life.The study holds reference and practical value for front-line primary school teachers engaged in life education activities,curriculum implementation,and enriching life education practices.The results of the three rounds of action implementation demonstrate that teaching activities related to "human and itself" can help students improve their self-awareness and emotional management skills,enhance their social skills to some extent,and teach them how to protect themselves correctly,as well as acquire basic self-protection skills.According to the research results and reflection,the study proposes suggestions for implementing primary school life education curriculum:first,schools need to establish a sound life education curriculum system;second,teachers’ training should be strengthened to promote teachers’ concepts of life education;teachers should dig deeper into the life education content in teaching materials during instructional design and implementation,focus on teaching design,optimize the teaching process,and promote the formation of correct worldview,outlook on life,and values through life-oriented learning methods and rich and colorful theme activities. |
