| Against the backdrop of accelerating social transformation and deepening aging in China, institutional elderly care has become a trend. At present, most elderly care institutions can provide basic services to the elderly, but they often find it difficult to take comprehensive care of their mental health. The loneliness and helplessness caused by changes in the elderly’s living environment, weakened physical functions, and missing loved ones can bring psychological pressure and pain to the elderly, leading to a lack of enthusiasm in daily life and a decrease in satisfaction with the surrounding environment, thereby affecting their subjective well-being.Based on this, this study aims to assist elderly people in nursing homes in enhancing their subjective well-being through the intervention of memorial groups, design a feasible memorial group intervention plan, and explore the mechanism of the memorial group’s action. The practical research object of this paper is the elderly in nursing homes, and the research content is the improvement of subjective well-being of elderly people in nursing homes. This study used interview and participatory observation methods to collect data, and used the Newfoundland Memorial University Happiness Scale(MUNSH)and Life Satisfaction Index A(LSIA)as research tools.Memorial therapy was the theoretical basis for group work intervention. After analyzing the influencing factors of subjective well-being of 20 elderly people in D nursing homes,it was found that factors at the individual, family, and institutional levels jointly affect the subjective well-being of the elderly.Through voluntary registration, screening, and scale measurement,6 elderly people were selected as service subjects for 8 group activities, and their subjective well-being was tested before and after. The results of social worker intervention indicate that the intervention of the memorial group has a positive effect on improving the subjective well-being of elderly people in nursing homes.Mainly reflected in:firstly,in terms of positive emotions, memorial therapy can guide elderly people to recall their life achievements, enhance their sense of self-worth,and thus enhance their positive feelings;Secondly,in terms of negative emotions,in the process of commemorative activities,by guiding the elderly to change their self-awareness,it can promote the emotional changes of the elderly, reduce their negative emotions, and promote their emotional stability;Thirdly,in terms of life satisfaction, emotional changes can promote changes in the elderly’s behavior, thereby improving their later life style, enhancing interpersonal communication, and enhancing life satisfaction.Remembrance therapy can help elderly people experience positive changes in their cognitive, emotional, and behavioral styles, thereby affecting their emotional balance and life satisfaction, ultimately achieving an improvement in their subjective well-being level. The advantage of memorial therapy is that it conforms to the psychological characteristics of elderly people who like to recall past events; We do not consider the service recipients as problematic individuals, but rather believe that the service recipients have potential. However, there are also some limitations:family relationships have a significant impact on the subjective well-being of elderly people in nursing homes, but this model is difficult to intervene in the overall family. |
