Research On Social Work Intervention Of Spiritual Comfort For The Elderly In Extreme Poverty In Rural Areas

In recent years,China’s aging society has become more and more serious.For rural areas with relatively backward economic and social conditions and imperfect pension infrastructure,the aging problem is becoming more and more serious,and the pension problem of rural concentrated support for the special group of extremely poor elderly deserves special attention.The national special poverty support system ensures that their material life needs can be basically solved,and their needs for spiritual comfort and emotional support are also increased accordingly.However,at this stage,most of the support stays at the level of basic material services,ignoring the mental health status and spiritual and cultural life of the special poverty elderly.The spiritual security situation of the special poverty elderly is relatively severe,and there is an obvious vacancy in the level of spiritual needs.Taking the opportunity of the author’s internship in X nursing home in G village,this study focuses on the spiritual comfort of rural centralized support for the poor elderly.Through field observation and in-depth interview,understand the basic situation of the extremely poor elderly in X nursing home.In addition,due to the lack of necessary connection between the elderly and the outside world during the long-term recreational period,they are likely to have a negative relationship with the elderly due to the lack of normal recreational activities,such as the critical period of prevention and control of depression.Using the scale measurement,it is found that the mental health status of the elderly in the hospital needs urgent attention,and even some elderly people do not understand the urgency of their needs for spiritual life.The research summarizes the needs of the elderly with special difficulties in the hospital at the level of spiritual comfort,mainly including psychological counseling,emotional support,culture and entertainment and self-identity.Under the theoretical guidance of demand theory and activity theory,the author carried out six group activities,intervened in the spiritual comfort of the poor elderly in X nursing home,and evaluated the group work.The study found that the group work involved in the spiritual comfort activities of rural centralized support for the poor elderly has achieved good results,which helps the poor elderly to establish positive peer support,obtain emotional mutual support,enrich cultural and entertainment life,alleviate negative psychological state,establish a positive attitude towards life and enjoy a happy life for the elderly.It is hoped that it can provide experience for the research on the spiritual comfort of social work for the elderly in rural areas and the solution of practical problems.
