Due to the continuous deepening of China’s reform and opening up,great changes have taken place in society.Many young people have entered the cities in droves,and the problem of the elderly left behind has also followed.They lack emotional support and daily life care for their children,making their sense of loneliness and loneliness increasingly intensified,becoming a worrying social problem.In 2021,China completed the poverty alleviation task,basically solved the problem of food and clothing,and improved the material livelihood security of the elderly year by year.On the contrary,the spiritual support for the elderly has always been neglected.The elderly left behind in rural areas lack the care and support of their children and family,their emotional needs cannot be addressed,and their spare time life is monotonous and tedious,lacking emotional and spiritual communication and interaction.This article aims to explore the issue of spiritual comfort for the elderly left behind in rural areas through field research,and combine professional knowledge and methods of social work to develop an effective service plan for group activities.To this end,we organized these service objects into a mutual assistance practice group,with the theme of "meeting you and me","sharing life","talking freely about life","loving by our side",and "moving forward with great strides",to carry out practical activities to achieve the goal of solving the spiritual comfort problems of the elderly left behind in rural areas.After the group service work is completed,we will evaluate the subsequent performance and reactions of the service object to summarize the results of this organizational practice,and discuss and summarize this.The study found that the elderly left behind in rural areas have a strong need for spiritual comfort,but their environment lacks sufficient support,making them unable to obtain effective psychological comfort.After carrying out group activities,positive changes have taken place in self cognition,family emotional support,social interaction,and other aspects of the elderly left behind in rural areas.The intervention of social work can effectively enhance the spiritual comfort of the elderly left behind,alleviate their sense of loneliness,and help them establish a good psychological state.
