A Case Study Of Spiritual Consolation For The Elderly Living Alone In City ——Take The Old Man Surnamed P In X Community As An Example

With the acceleration of population aging in modern society,the scale of the elderly population is increasing,the number of elderly people living alone is increasing year by year,and the pension situation has also attracted attention from all walks of life.Elderly people living alone in cities have higher-level spiritual needs while meeting their basic survival needs.Therefore,paying attention to the spiritual needs of the elderly living alone can help improve the well-being of the elderly.As the communication between the elderly living alone and the outside world is decreasing day by day,their emotional needs are largely unsatisfied,resulting in low self-esteem,loneliness and other negative emotions,which directly affect their quality of life.Therefore,it is necessary to pay attention to the needs of the elderly living alone in terms of spiritual comfort.Under this background,this paper is mainly guided by the social support theory and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory,using the method of case work,to study the spiritual comfort of the elderly living alone in the city,and collect relevant data by combining the methods of questionnaire survey,interview and observation.To understand the social support network of the elderly living alone in urban areas,and found that they received limited support from family,neighbors,friends,social organizations and the community.Through comprehensive evaluation and analysis,it is concluded that the actual needs of the elderly living alone in terms of spiritual comfort are mainly reflected in social interaction,cultural entertainment,emotional comfort and self-value realization.Selecting the elderly living alone as the case service object of this article,through specific service processes such as case reception,estimation,planning,intervention,evaluation,and case closure,it aims to help the client re-establish formal and informal social support networks and regain Self-confidence in communicating with the outside world prompts their need for spiritual comfort to be met.Based on the evaluation and feedback of case service,it is concluded that the method of casework is effective and feasible to intervene in the spiritual comfort of the elderly living alone,and the social support theory has certain advantages in guiding the spiritual comfort service of the elderly living alone in cities.By summarizing the experience and deficiencies in the process of casework service,I hope to contribute to the future research on the spiritual comfort of the elderly living alone in cities.
