| Currently,orphans in China have obtained better social relief.However,due to the lack of care and guidance from their original families,psychological and behavioral problems are more prominent.It is prone to false self-perceptions and lower self-control that will directly affect their physical and mental health,the formation of personal character,the shaping of personality qualities and the development of future life.Accordingly,it is an important issue for social workers to accurately improve the self-control of the orphan groups under the guidance of the professional theory system of social work.Based on the "Empowerment Plan" SOS Children’s Village Social Work Service Project,this study understands the current situation of the orphans’ self-control ability in the SOS children’s village with the "Children’s Self-Control Student Report Form" by conducting professional social work service here.Aiming at the enhancement of orphans’ behavior self-control ability,eight orphans with moderate to low level of self-control were selected as service clients.Besides,seven group activities were targeted to intervene from their self-control cognitive,interpersonal interaction,learning behavior and living behavior.At the end,this study made a comprehensive evaluation by scale comparisons,group member satisfaction surveys,as well as observations and interviews of the activity process.The findings suggest that self-control groups can effectively improve the self-control ability of orphans,as evidenced by cognitive,behavioral and social improvements.The study,of social work intervention to improve the behavior self-control of orphans,is a supplement to the previous research on orphans.We should not only focus on the current psychological or behavioral problems of orphans,but also strengthen the overall quality of education and capacity building of the orphans.Meanwhile,we should fully utilize the power of group work to help more orphans with lower self-control to improve their ability. |
