Geometric intuition is not only one of the ten core concepts proposed in the mathematics curriculum standard for compulsory education(2011 Edition),but also an important part of intuitive imagination literacy.It is widely used in modern mathematics and other scientific research fields and plays an important role in the comprehensive development of students.Therefore,in order to understand the current situation of geometric intuition level of junior middle school students,this study selects eighth grade students as the research object,and investigates the following three questions:what is the current situation of geometric intuition level of eighth grade students? What are the influencing factors of Grade 8 students’ geometric intuition level? What are the training strategies for the geometric intuition level of Grade 8 students?By combing the relevant literature and referring to the existing research on the evaluation of geometric intuition,290 eighth grade students and 4 front-line mathematics teachers from urban,county and rural schools in Qingyang City are selected as the research objects.The students’ geometric intuition level is studied by using the methods of test paper,questionnaire and interview.The conclusions are as follows:(1)The geometric intuition level of Grade 8 students is generally at the lower middle level;(2)There are differences in the geometric intuition level of Grade 8students in different performance dimensions,including better understanding of forming graphics,general performance in understanding and expression problems with graphics,and weak performance in analyzing and solving problems with graphics;(3)There are significant differences in the development of geometric intuition level of Grade 8students in schools in different regions.The performance of students in urban schools is stronger than that in County schools and stronger than that in rural schools;(4)There is no significant gender difference in the geometric intuition level of Grade 8 students;(5)There is a significant positive correlation between the geometric intuition test score of Grade 8 students and their usual performance.Based on the results of questionnaire survey and teacher interview,this paper analyzes and summarizes the influencing factors of students’ geometric intuition level in Grade 8.The conclusions are as follows:(1)internal factors are the main factors affecting the development of students’ geometric intuition level,in which the influence of students’ learning methods and knowledge base is relatively high;(2)External factors are important factors affecting the development of students’ geometric intuition level.Teachers’ teaching methods,good learning resources from family and competition and cooperation among peers all have a positive impact on the development of students’ geometric intuition level.Combined with the current situation of students’ geometric intuition and its influencing factors,and referring to the interview with teachers,this paper puts forward the following strategies for the cultivation of eighth grade students’ geometric intuition:(1)establish a positive graphic consciousness and enhance their interest in geometric intuition learning;(2)Looking for suitable learning methods and strengthening the efficiency of geometric intuitive learning;(3)Pay attention to infiltrating geometric intuition and cultivate students’ geometric intuition consciousness;(4)Pay attention to the combination with practice and deepen students’ perception of geometric drawings;(5)Strengthen the practice of reading and drawing,and enhance the students’ ability of independent composition;(6)Information technology assisted teaching to stimulate students’ awareness of geometry application;(7)Encourage parents to actively participate in students’ learning and help students cultivate their interest in geometry learning;(8)Strengthen the setting of extracurricular learning activities and cultivate students’ ability of practical operation. |
