With the upgrading and in-depth development of the mobile Internet, social media has gradually become an indispensable and important tool in people’s work, study and life. However, with the increasingly close contact between social media and people, users’ burnout and negative use behaviors begin to appear. As the largest social media platform in China, exploring the mechanism and influence of burnout in the use of We Chat is helpful to understand the changes of users’ behavior under the background of mobile Internet, and has positive guiding significance for building a healthy and sustainable social media ecology. This study reviewed the literature in related fields, focused on the core issue of We Chat burnout, and explored the influencing factors and behavior results of burnout in We Chat use from the perspective of role pressure. In this paper, the Stressors-Strain-Outcome(SSO)framework is used as the theoretical model, and the stressor to be measured is conceptualized as "role stress",which includes three dimensions: role conflict, role ambiguity and role overload.Conceptualize emotional burden as We Chat burnout;Conceptualize the behavior result as "negative use of social media",including five dimensions: endure behavior, lurking behavior, neglect behavior, shielding behavior and exitting behavior.Taking college students as the investigation objects, this paper studies and analyzes the burnout of college students’ We Chat use by means of questionnaires and in-depth interviews. It is found that: at present, college students’ role pressure does exist in the process of using We Chat, among which the perception of role conflict is the strongest;A relatively high level of burnout among the college student population in relation to We Chat, which is accompanied by negative feelings of anxiety, exhaustion and overwhelm.Among the passive use behaviors, the frequency of shielding behavior and exitting behavior is higher. In the research on the generation and influence of We Chat burnout,it is found that the three dimensions of role pressure, role conflict, role ambiguity and role overload, will positively affect the generation of We Chat burnout.Wechat burnout has significant positive effects on endure, lurking, shielding and exitting behaviors.Wechat burnout partially mediates the relationship between role stress and negative use behavior.Through an in-depth exploration of the antecedents and consequences of burnout in the process of We Chat use,it helps users to better present themselves based on a correct view of the negative emotions that arise in We Chat use,and also provides some reference for social media platforms to understand the generation of negative emotions and negative behaviours of users.
