The disabled are more affected by social exclusion. In this study, the elderly with acquired disability and cancer were selected as the research objects to explore whether they faced social exclusion after disability and characteristic? What are the reasons for the social exclusion of the elderly with acquired disability and cancer after disability? On this basis, this thesis explores how to help disabled people solve the problem of social exclusion during the pandemic era?How should social workers help disabled the elderly with cancer address the problem of social exclusion? In this study, developmentalism theory was used as the theoretical analysis framework. And the qualitative research method of length interview was used to collect data from five elderly people with acquired disability and cancer and their families to conduct social exclusion research. In terms of social exclusion, this studies have found that the elderly with acquired disabilities and cancer experience a process from "healthy" and "normal" to "disabled" and "abnormal",and there is a great difference in the degree of social exclusion before and after disability. The elderly with acquired disabilities experience more social exclusion at aspects of economic, social and cultural which leads to the effects of social exclusion leading to further self-exclusion.In the economic aspect, the employment problem after the disability becomes an important factor restricting the economic integration. The rejection of the employment of the disabled affected by the developmentalism efficiency-first labor market leads to problems such as fewer employment opportunities, poor employment positions, low wages and poor social welfare, which further affects their overall income and even leads to poverty. In terms of social interaction, they are excluded to some extent.Disability makes the subjects’ interpersonal communication range gradually narrow, their communication tends to be passive, and their relationship with non-disabled friends becomes weak.In terms of cultural life, compared with the life without disability, tourism has changed from "leaving at a moment’s notice" to"walking at a moment’s notice".In sports, they are hard to "enter the arena" and "left out in the cold".In addition, the stigmatized perception of disability in society, influenced by the developmentalist discourse,is also a manifestation of the social exclusion for the disabled.Fundamentally, society from the perspective of developmentalism is considered as a rapidly running political and economic machine that requires individuals to be able to operate efficiently.Under this discourse system, the disabled are regarded as incomplete and unqualified "parts" which is excluded and marginalized by the society. This thesis revels that the social exclusion of the elderly with acquired disabilities and cancer is caused by the submission of social policies influenced by developmentalism and the social exclusion caused by economic policies, the social exclusion caused by the "low efficiency" of the labor market for the disabled in pursuit of economic efficiency, and the colonization of the discourse system of developmentalism. In addition, social exclusion leads to self-exclusion.On the contrary, the self-exclusion of the disabled also intensifies the economic, social and cultural exclusion of the elderly with acquired disabilities and cancer. In view of the causes of social exclusion of the disabled, this thesis puts forward some suggestions from both macro and micro levels. At the macro level, improving the social policy mechanism is essential for the disabled, ensuring their employment, and creating a good social environment. At the micro level, social workers with professional methods should help acquired disabled persons regain confidence and better integrate into society by intervening in self-exclusion and social exclusion.
