The existing support from soceity to families with autistic children is far from enough to meet their intergrated needs for recovery and education. It makes them hard to breath under unbearable repondsibility for original family. The number of smothering families are too many that we should not ignore them. The social support should be expanded, and college students’ voluntary service can be a supplementary social support. However, they have a common drawback of continuity of service.Aforetime research consider that volunteer role identification and demand satisfaction can boost sustaining service, but whether they play the same role in the field of autism service is unknown. For sake of probing the key to the question, this study surveys 193 undergraduate who take part in the autism program and other projects. The results finds that the willingness of sustained service of undergraduates is positively affected by volunteer identity and satisfaction of fundamental psychological demands.Especially the demand for relevance. And the role of relevance is greater than the role identification of volunteers. The article also discusses the distinction between the ascertainment and the existing research and the feasible reason. This research recommends that the basic psychological needs and identification of volunteers should be attached importance to in long-term volunteer cultivation for autistic people, especially the need for Relatedness. The effective practice of social workers in this aspect is meaningful in fostering the willingness of volunteers to continue to serve. It can make up for the conflict between the short of continuity of undergraduates’ service and the needs of autistic families. |
