From the overall trend of population development, the aging trend in China is irreversible, and this trend almost synchronizes with the digital transformation process of contemporary society. With various digital platforms fully embedded in people’s lives, people’s lives are undergoing tremendous changes towards digitalization, and digital adaptation has become an important part of social adaptation,as well as a key dimension to measure the integration of digitally disadvantaged groups into society. In this context, how to help the elderly better adapt to society through social media culture is a pressing issue for both society and academia. The development of social media has not only rewritten the way modern people communicate, but also become an important platform for forming cultural groups and nurturing new subcultures.Since entering the era of social media, the gap in infrastructure and knowledge and skills between elderly netizens and young netizens has gradually narrowed, and the differences between these two groups in social media discourse systems and information-seeking patterns have become increasingly prominent.Differences in the degree of ownership of cultural capital and cultural consumption habits bring about cultural distinctions between intergenerational groups. On the one hand, the phenomenon of cultural distinctions can affect the self-identity and realization of different groups of people to a certain extent, but on the other hand,it may also cause the online cultural field and even cyberspace to show a situation of fragmentation and differentiation, and even cause the blockage of cultural flow. When there is a lack of dialogue and trust between cultural groups, ideas may become narrower and polarized, which in turn will lead to a socio-cultural crisis. But at the same time, different cultural groups may influence and penetrate each other, and different cultures may also absorb and integrate with each other, and the "barriers" of cultural separation and the integration between cultures carry the significance of understanding the elderly group at a deeper level, helping the elderly to use social media as a tool to better integrate into society and carry out digital adaptation and social adaptation. This study combines the social context of aging in contemporary China, focuses on the elderly netizen group, and analyzes the cultural barriers and breakthroughs between the network culture of the elderly group on social media platforms and the mainstream youth network culture from the perspective of Bourdieu’s cultural segregation theory. It also analyzes the influence on the social role produced and consumed by the elderly netizen group under the empowerment of technology. At the same time, starting from promoting cultural integration and improving the social situation of the digital disadvantaged group’s digital and real life, the study proposes that to achieve cultural integration,it is necessary to explore common experiences among groups;strengthen the diversified cultural language to preserve differences;and construct a fusion model that reconstructs the relationship between subjects. To promote digital integration through cultural integration, individuals need to improve their capital through individual actions, reshape habits through group communication, and maintain their rights through field support.
