| The outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan(2021-2025)for National Economic and Social Development and Vision 2035 of the People’s Republic of China clearly proposes to "improve the elderly service system,improve the basic elderly service system".On November 24,2021,the latest release of the State Council on strengthening the opinions of the new era of old-age work,again proposes to "improve the pension service system".As the foundation and core part of the basic pension service system,the benefit groups and development trend of the home-based care service are not clear,and the impact on the life of the elderly is not clear,and how it affects the life of the elderly is not determined.It is of great significance to discuss these problems to better play the role of home-based care service and improve the basic care service system.This paper first reviews domestic and foreign research results on the impact of home-based care services on life satisfaction of the elderly,and finds that few studies analyze the effectiveness of services from the perspectives of service types,time trends and mechanism.Based on this,this paper firstly adopts the three-phase CLASS cross section data,using probit model and negative binomial regression model(NBREG)to analyze the current situation of the use of home care services for the elderly in China from the two aspects of the type and quantity of use of home care services for the elderly.Secondly,based on the three-wave CLASS panel data,the fixed effect model(FE)is used to explore the impact of different types of home-based care services on life satisfaction of the elderly,and the heterogeneity of urban-rural areas and gender is analyzed.Finally,the mediating effect model is used to explore the mechanism of the relationship between home care services and life satisfaction of the elderly.The results show that:(1)Although the number of elderly people benefiting from home care services in China is still small,the benefit groups are gradually consistent with the policy objectives,and the role of the bottom guarantee is gradually emerging;(2)Different types of home-based care services have different impacts on the life satisfaction of the elderly:help and tour services can significantly improve the life satisfaction of the elderly,but basic service is correlated with lower life satisfaction;(3)There are significant urban-rural and gender differences in the impact of different types of home-based care services on life satisfaction of the elderly:such as helping services have the greatest positive impact on male elderly,tour services have the greatest effect on improving the life satisfaction of the rural elderly,basic services are only associated with lower life satisfaction among urban and male older adults;(4)Home care services improve the life satisfaction of the elderly by expanding their social participation.Finally,this study takes the national data of the third period as the research object,and uses the fixed effect(FE)model and panel mediation effect model to accurately evaluate the impact of different types of home care services on the life satisfaction of the elderly,so as to draw an authoritative conclusion on the development effect of home care services.However,the basis of service classification in this paper is insufficient,and there are omissions in the inclusion of intermediary variables.All these problems need to be further studied and explored. |
