In recent years, with the deeper development of China’s financial industry, the number of international financial conferences hosted by China has been on the rise.Financial conferences are vital channels for effective exchanges among professionals, and through these platforms,Chinese speakers can spread China’s voice in finance.Financial conference interpreting is essential to two-way accurate understanding, and it further contributes to the success of the whole conference. Therefore, studying financial conference interpreting, especially its coping strategies is very important.Financial conferences have their own characteristics, which also make them more difficult to understand and interpret. This requires interpreters to use proper coping strategies in simultaneous interpreting to overcome the challenges brought by terminology and practices with Chinese characteristics.Since Skopos theory instructs interpreting activities widely and financial conference interpreting has a strong communicative purpose,it is adopted as the theoretical basis to help to prove the effectiveness of these strategies. To figure out effective interpreting strategies, this paper takes keynote speeches of the Bund Summit(2019-2022)as the material.Through detailed case analysis, several coping strategies in financial conference interpreting are concluded under the guidance of Skopos theory, including addition, omission, conversion, inversion, replacement, combination, and division.Besides, the author also finds that multiple strategies used at the same time help achieve the three rules of Skopos theory, namely, the Skopos rule, the Coherence rule, and the Fidelity rule. These useful strategies can also be applied in the future practices of financial conference interpreting.
