Simulate Interpreting Practice Report On The Seventh Session Of The Singapore-tianjin Economic And Trade Council From The Perspective Of The Skopos Theory

With the promoting of global economic and trade integration,conference interpreting plays an increasingly important role in the economic and trade cooperation between China and foreign countries.As one of the most important verbal communicative acts,conference interpreting is distinctly characterized by its formality,immediacy and cross-cultural linguisticality.Therefore,in the process of conference interpreting,interpreters often deal with many problems,such as how to make the translation more idiomatic;how to eliminate the redundant information in transforming between languages;how to make the expression more accurate,etc..Based on the principles of The Skopos Theory,the author analyzes and discusses the problems and corresponding solutions in the simulation interpreting of the Singapore-Tianjin economic and Trade Council,in order to improve the quality of interpreting,and to give reference to future conference interpreting practices.The characteristics of the conference interpreting,especially its cross-cultural linguisticality and formality,require that the translation should reflect the purpose and faithfulness of the text,which is consistent with the The Skopos Theory of German functional school.The core idea of The Skopos Theory focuses on the purpose of translation and holds that the purpose of translation determines the translation strategy,while the translator should choose different translation strategies according to different translation purposes.The author always adhere to the three principles in the simulation interpreting: skopos,faithfulness,coherence,with taking translation strategies such as interpretation,rewriting,ellipsis,domestication and foreignization to solve the problems encountered in the process of interpreting.The following conclusions of this paper are drawn: firstly,in the conference interpreting,the interpreter should take into account its characteristics of the cross-cultural linguisticality and formality;secondly,on the basis of ensuring the realization of the interpreting purpose,the interpreter should follow the principles of coherence and fidelity,timely choosing different translation strategies in order toimprove the quality of translation;thirdly,since the audience,themes and contents involved in different conferences are varying,the purposes that interpreter needs to accomplish are different.Therefore,the interpreter should make full preparations before the conference,along with improving their professional ability.
