The Study Of Ronald Egan’s Reasearch Of Ou-yang Hsiu

American Sinologist Ronald Egan is a famous scholar of Song Dynasty literature and culture in the field of contemporary international sinology.He made wonderful comments on the works and life stories of Song Dynasty literati such as Su Shi,Li Qingzhao and Ou-yang Hsiu.Ou-yang Hsiu,as a famous statesman,writer and historian in the Northern Song Dynasty,wrote many books and made great achievements in many fields,which had a profound influence on the stylistic innovation of the Song Dynasty and the literary creation of the later generations.At present,the domestic academic circles focus more on the study of his Su Shi and Li Qingzhao,but there is a lack of research on his Ou-yang Hsiu.This paper intends to focus on the study of Ou-yang Hsiu by American Sinologist Ronald Egan,to introduce his research results as a whole,refine his academic thoughts and summarize his research characteristics,in order to provide references for domestic research on Ou-yang Hsiu.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part introduces Egan’s sinology research process and academic achievements.First of all,this paper introduces Egan’s life experience and academic career by stages in chronological order.Secondly,it systematically summarizes his sinology research results,classifies and summarizes his sinology achievements,highlights his integrity of Chinese literature and culture research,and reflects his academic status and value in overseas sinology circles.The second part introduces Egan’s division and interpretation of Ou-yang Hsiu’s literary styles,systematically introduces Egan’s interpretation of the artistic forms,techniques and styles of Ou-yang Hsiu’s four literary styles of Poetry,Prose,Songs and Rhapsodies,and finally summarizes the common characteristics existing in Ouyang Hsiu’s literary works.The third part introduces the interpretation of Ou-yang Hsiu’s aesthetic cultural mentality in his monograph The problem of Beauty: Aesthetic Thought and Pursuits in Northren Song Dynasty China.Firstly,it introduces and analyzes Eganr’s appraisal of various aesthetic activities of Ouyang Xiu,and on this basis,from the perspective of aesthetic culturology,interprets the aesthetic anxiety emotion produced by the scholastic officials in the Northern Song Dynasty represented by Ou-yang Hsiu.The fourth part summarizes the characteristics and limitations of Egan’s research on Ou-yang Hsiu.To view the academic research of Ronald Egan from an objective perspective,so as to give beneficial reference to the local academic research in China from the perspective of others.
