A Report On The Translation Of English Sports News

With the continuous development of sports,there is an increasing demand for all kinds of foreign sports news.In the future,the E-C translation of sports news will become more and more important.However,researches on the E-C translation of sports news in China are very few,which are worth further exploration.This paper is a translation practice report focused on the E-C translation of sports news.The author believes that the Skopos Theory can provide a new perspective for the E-C translation of sports news and improve the quality of it.From the perspective of the Skopos Theory,the top priority in producing the translation is to achieve the function or “the purpose” of the target text.When it comes to the E-C translation of the English sports news,the major communicative purposes are to convey the information and to meet the reading needs of the target readers.Therefore,the translator is supposed to take the major two purposes into account and to choose the translation strategies in a flexible way in doing the E-C translation of English sports news.Therefore,from the perspective of the Skopos Theory,this paper mainly analyzes and studies the E-C translation of sports news and puts forward scientific and reasonable translation methods and strategies through the aspects of its title,vocabulary,syntax and discourse in order to improve the quality of E-C translation of sports news.
