News feature story,as a medium of message conveying,is recognized by the public as a way for people to see the world. It recaptures the news scene with vivid detail description and lively dialogues, creating a greater sense of presence for readers. This thesis is a report of English-Chinese translation practice of articles related to“Russiagate”.They include three political texts, two from The New Yorker and one from Time, and fall into the category of news feature story. The translation practice is reviewed under the guidance of Skopos theory,of which three rules, namely, skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule are adopted as the guiding principles in the process of case studies.Under these rules, appropriate translation methods are selected depending on the lexical and syntactical features of source texts, such as literal translation, free translation, linear translation, splitting and restructuring of long sentences,as well as change of voice,so as to provide target readers translated texts with high quality with the hope that they can catch true and accurate information. It is also hoped that this report will offer other translators some valuable ideas. At the end of the report, the translator concludes that it is of great importance to correctly translate people’s names, titles and other proper nouns and terms, that close attention should be focused on analyzing difficult points such as long and complex sentences and then translating them appropriately under the guidance of Skopos theory, and that due to the specificity and sensitiveness of political texts, the translator is required to have a correct understanding of the original text and reproduce the text rigorously and precisely.
