| Economy has always been a hot topic, especially with the advent of economic globalization and the increasing trade cooperation between China and other countries in the world.Chinese readers are increasingly interested in economic news in English in order to better understand the general direction of the economy under the trend of globalization.Since the leap in readers’ demand for more global economic information, news subscription rates have accelerated, which urges many media companies to translate overseas news for domestic readers, especially those in English. As English is the world’ s lingual franca, economic news reports in English have always been a hot topic for major media in China, which has prompted people to focus more on the translation of economic news texts. In order to improve the translation quality of economic news texts,it is of great necessity to study the linguistic characteristics and translation strategies of economic news texts. The 21 st century has been universally regarded as an important period of global economic transformation for various countries to start to vigorously develop green economy, which brings the green economic news to the forefront.Admittedly, this has led to increasing attention on green economy news translation as it contains not only expertise in the economic field, but also various complex ecological environmental factors.Consequently, what translators have to face in the translation process is not only the problem of language conversion, but also the problems of adapting to and choosing from different linguistic and cultural environments. In response to this problem, domestic scholars have put forward a more sound translation theory——Eco-translatology.Eco-translatology is a brand new theory pioneered by Professor Hu Gengshen of Tsinghua University.Guided by the basic principles of Darwin’ s theory“ adaptive selection”,it draws an analogy between the translational environment and natural environment.Focusing on translator-centeredness,it defines translation as translators’ adaptation and selection, which can provide us with a brand new angle to study green economic news translation. Therefore, this paper intends to explore the translation of green economic news in The Economist from the perspective of Eco-translatology.In short, this paper falls into six parts. The first chapter is an introduction to the thesis. The second chapter is the literature review. The Economist will be introduced in the third part.In the fourth chapter, the author presents a detailed introduction to the theoretical framework. And the fifth part belongs to the case study of E-C translation of green economic news in The Economist based on Eco-translatology.The final part serves as a conclusion of this thesis.By summarizing, the author finds that in the translation process, translators should fully understand the various factors in the translational eco-environment,and try to coordinate the relationship among them to make correct adaptation and selection,so as to realize the three-dimensional transformation, including the language dimension, the cultural dimension and the communicative dimension. The author hopes that this study can offer some valuable reference for the future news translation studies. |
