In recent years,several surveys have shown that adolescents’ perceptions of their emotions and feelings are extremely deficient,making mental health problems one of the most significant disease burdens for this group.As an important way to develop children’s social-emotional learning(SEL)skills,the influence of picture book education in helping to develop healthy psychology in children and adolescents should not be underestimated.However,the social-emotional learning(SEL)education system in China is not yet complete,and research on SEL is mainly focused on introducing foreign theories and practices,or proposing local strategies to develop social-emotional learning skills for Chinese students based on them.Although the picture book industry has developed to a great extent,there are still problems such as small creative teams,lack of innovation in the form,and crude production in the industry,and in general there is a large gap with foreign development,and the concept of SEL picture books is not yet popular.This paper takes social-emotional learning and picture book education as the starting point,illustrates the "educational" connection between the two,and explores strategies for developing SEL picture books for classroom teaching.By using in-depth interviews and practical research methods,and taking the SEL picture book design of "The Kingdom of Emotions: If You Lose Your Bad Emotions" as the starting point,we try to integrate the core connotation of social-emotional learning into the dual-language system of picture books with broken text and stopping text and picture lines by sorting out and analyzing the origin of SEL development,theoretical framework,core areas,and picture book design process and design principles.We will design the story,character design,picture composition design,cover and text design,etc.We also verify the feasibility of SEL picture book development strategies by using the teaching practice of "Emotion Processing Little Master" picture book classroom and "Emotion Expression Little Painter" art classroom to pave the way for the localized SEL picture book design in China,and also provide reference for SEL classroom teaching in China.
