By synthesizing domestic and foreign studies on children’s sex education picture books,case studies,literature research and comparative analysis methods are used to reveal the characteristics of children’s sex education picture book creation and its differences from other thematic picture books.The study proposes to select educational themes based on children’s age,and proposes improvement measures for the problems of gender solidification and realistic horror of appearance in picture books.In visual representation,the treatment of elements such as color,composition,scientific knowledge and interactive experience can enhance children’s understanding of sexuality,balance the scale of the picture and reduce reading embarrassment.In the exploration of metaphorical techniques,anthropomorphic metaphor,domestication metaphor and trans-experiential metaphor are applied to the theme of sex education through graphic analysis to connect scientific texts with daily life and reduce reading difficulty.The study expects to draw attention to children’s sex education through the theoretical analysis and design practice of sex education picture books,to address parents’ shyness when conducting sex education,and to promote the advancement of sex education.
