| New Curriculum Reform has been carried out over 20 years,and increasing importance has been attached to the language ability of students.As an important part of language ability,writing proficiency has become one of the important embodiments of the core competences of English discipline.According to the author’s observation,the students’ writing ability is not satisfying.Based on the writing teaching literature at home and abroad,it is believed that the production-oriented method could be helpful to improving students’ writing ability and this action research studies the application of production-oriented method to senior high school English writing teaching.Under the guidance of production-oriented method proposed by Professor Wen Qiufang,with the students in the third grade in XX Senior High School as research subjects,using interviews,questionnaires,and writing tests as tools,this paper aims to explore how to apply this method to high school English teaching.This study will focus on the following questions: By applying the production-oriented method to senior high school English writing teaching,1.How to improve students’ writing enthusiasm and interest? 2.How to improve the frequency of taking writing strategies? 3.How to enhance students’ writing ability in language,content and structure?Focusing on these problems and based on the production-oriented method,the first round of action research is mainly composed of 3 steps: writing motivation,language input and writing evaluation.Based on the teachers and the students’ logs in the first round of action research,the author concluded 3 problems: ineffective promotion,lack of focus and mental pressure on students while evaluating and students’ unspecific logs.The author re-adjusted the teaching plan from the following aspects and then conducted the second round action research:1.Input teaching should be done gradually.2.Composition evaluation should be specific and class atmosphere should be warm and friendly.3.Establish a reflective growth record bag.After these two rounds of action research,the author conducted a holistic analysis through questionnaires,interviews and tests to help summarize the whole action research.The result shows that combining the senior high school English writing teaching and the production-oriented approach is of practice: 1.Students’ writing enthusiasm and writing motivation have been inspired.2.Students’ selective learning abilities and writing strategies have become better than before.3.Through the carefully designed POA English writing class,students’ writing ability has got a 8%~10% promotion from the perspective of content,language and structure.Generally speaking,this kind of combination can not only meet students’ writing needs and improve their writing ability but also monitor the teaching process effectively. |
