| In 2016,the Ministry of Education announced the revolution in the College Entrance Examination,which includes the revolution in English.Professor Wang Chuming proposed a new writing paradigm in 2012 called the Continuation Writing Task.The continuation writing task is a kind of writing task that combines writing with reading comprehension.In 2020,it was first applied as a writing test in Liaoning,posing a fresh challenge for both teachers and students.The teachers attempt to come up with a good technique to teach writing.Production-oriented Approach was put forward by Professor Wen Qiufang in 2015,aiming to address the separation between input and output.Based on the theory and the requirements of the College Entrance Examination,the author attempts to conduct action research to study the application of the theory in teaching the continuation writing task.The author conducts two rounds of action research to investigate the effectiveness of using Production-oriented Approach in teaching the continuation writing task.In action research,the author focuses on the following two questions:1.What are the effects of Production-oriented Approach on senior high school students’ attitudes toward the continuation writing task?2.What are the effects of Production-oriented Approach on senior high school students’ writing ability of the continuation writing task?Thirty third-grade students from a senior high school in Shenyang,Liaoning,participate in the study.In each round of the action research,the author teaches the continuation writing task under the direction of Production-oriented Approach.Both the two rounds of action research involve identifying problems,designing an action plan,implementing the action plan,as well as evaluation and reflection.During the research,the author adopts three tests,two questionnaires,and an interview to monitor the changes of the students.The collected data is analyzed with SPSS 26.0.The results prove that Production-oriented Approach is an effective theory to be applied in teaching the continuation writing task.After the two rounds of action research,most of the students hold a positive attitude toward the continuation writing task.They become more confident in finishing the continuation writing task.Meanwhile,the teaching model guided by the theory has a significant impact on the students’ writing ability.Students make remarkable progress in terms of expression fluency and content logic. |
