With the internationalization of Chinese language,the demand for outward oriented Chinese learning dictionaries is constantly increasing,and the number of publications of outward oriented Chinese learning dictionaries in China is also gradually increasing.However,the enthusiasm of foreign learners for using existing Chinese learning dictionaries needs to be further improved.The reason for this may be that the existing outward oriented Chinese learning dictionaries in China have not yet fully met the learning needs of learners,and the phenomenon of "Neihan" still exists.How to distinguish from traditional introverted Chinese dictionaries,improve the compilation quality of extraverted learning dictionaries,and meet the learning needs of learners is an important issue that urgently needs to be solved.In April 2022,the International Chinese Learning Dictionary(Preliminary)(hereinafter referred to as the "Learning Dictionary"),compiled by the latest organization of the Chinese Language Examination International,is an outward oriented learning dictionary.This dictionary is in line with the initial stage of the "International Chinese Language Education Chinese Level Standards" and is the latest achievement of China’s outward oriented Chinese learning dictionary.The Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th Edition)(hereinafter referred to as the "Modern Chinese Dictionary")has been revised multiple times and has become an authoritative and influential Chinese language dictionary.Therefore,this article will use the "Learning Dictionary" and "Modern Chinese" as closed domains and adopt quantitative and qualitative research methods to compare and analyze social referential nouns from the aspects of word collection,meaning setting,interpretation methods,interpretation content,and interpretation examples.It will examine the characteristics of the unique extroverted learning dictionary in the "Learning Dictionary",summarize its interpretation characteristics and shortcomings,and propose corresponding revision suggestions for the shortcomings,I hope to provide assistance for the compilation of dictionaries for extroverted learning.The main body of this article is divided into four chapters.The first chapter conducts a comparative study from the aspects of word collection and semantic setting in the two dictionaries.In terms of vocabulary collection,the "Learning Dictionary" receives far fewer words than the "Modern Chinese".The "Learning Dictionary" strictly follows the "Grading Standards" and emphasizes practicality;However,the collection of words in "Xianhan" is large,including a large number of dialect words,professional vocabulary,and online vocabulary,with a greater emphasis on comprehensiveness.In terms of the number of items,the number of items in the Learning Dictionary is less than that in the Modern Chinese Dictionary,and the precision of items is also lower than that in the Modern Chinese Dictionary.This is manifested in the fusion of two items into one item,incomplete inclusion of items,and so on.In terms of the arrangement of meanings,the Learning Dictionary mostly adopts logical order,while the arrangement of meanings in Modern Han is more flexible and diverse,taking into account the order of logical order and frequency of use.Based on this,we believe that the Learning Dictionary may further improve the precision of meaning division.Propose revision suggestions to increase the precision of meaning items.Chapter 2 conducts a comparative study from the perspective of interpretation methods.In terms of interpretation methods,both dictionaries use defining forms the most,with "Xianhan" having more explanatory forms than "Learning Dictionary".In terms of the choice of attributive words in the definition,the two dictionaries have different choices.Some social categories in the "Learning Dictionary" refer to the phenomenon that the scope of attributive words in human nouns is too wide,and the accuracy of interpretation needs to be strengthened.In terms of the choice of interpretation methods,the proportion of interpretation in "Xianhan" is higher than that in "Learning Dictionary".We believe that the Learning Dictionary may unify the selection criteria for defining generic words and increase the scientific interpretation.Chapter 3 conducts a comparative study from the perspective of interpretation content.Firstly,classify and statistically analyze the semantic features contained in the social referent nouns included in the two dictionaries,and compare and analyze them from both horizontal and vertical dimensions.Next,based on the Learning Dictionary,it was divided into two categories: those with the same semantic features and those with different semantic features.It was found that the social category in the two dictionaries has a high similarity in the interpretation content of human nouns.However,due to the limitation of the word used for interpretation,the Learning Dictionary has redundant and low frequency of use,which may simplify some of the interpretation content,thereby reducing the memory burden on learners.Chapter 4 conducts a comparative study of the two dictionaries from the perspective of example setting.In terms of the number of examples,the Learning Dictionary far surpasses the Modern Chinese Dictionary;In terms of example types,both dictionaries have an advantage in sentence examples.The proportion of sentence examples and phrase examples in the Learning Dictionary differs greatly,while the proportion of sentence examples and phrase examples in the Modern Chinese Dictionary is relatively balanced.Secondly,a separate analysis is conducted on the setting characteristics of examples in the Learning Dictionary.Each meaning item in the Learning Dictionary has an average of 4-5 examples,and the length of examples exceeds the optimal memory block for short-term memory,or can be slightly reduced.Overall,there are both reasonable aspects and areas for optimization in the configuration settings.
