In recent years, the rapid development of China’s civil aviation industry and the indepth exchanges with foreign countries have brought many opportunities to the aviation economy development.Nowadays, the development of the aviation economy is on the rise, and academic literature related to it is emerging accordingly. Therefore,it is of great importance to the translation of the aviation economy texts. The source text of this translation practice is selected from the fifth chapter of the Development Index Report on China’s Civil Aviation(2020-2021),written by Professor Hao Aimin from the School of Economics at Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics. This book conducts in-depth research on the aviation economy, which strongly supports the construction of the aviation economy in Henan Province and contributes to the highquality development of China’s aviation economy. The translator chooses Chapter 5“Spillover Effects and Synergistic Paths for the Development of the Airport Economic Zone” as the source text for translation practice. This translation practice can help target language readers better understand the development of China’s aviation economy and enable readers with relevant backgrounds to fully grasp the content of this chapter.Relatively accurate and professional translation not only guides the research of scholars working in related fields, but also plays a vital role in promoting exchanges between countries in the aviation economy.According to Newmark’s classification of text types, this translation practice belongs to informative text.Newmark proposes that communicative translation theory is used for informative texts.Communicative translation theory holds that the target readers should be the center of translation, the translator should have greater freedom to translate the source text, and the translation emphasizes the form of expression and the intended effect. Therefore, under the guidance of Newmark’s communicative translation theory, the translator completes this translation practice with the help of electronic dictionaries, termbase, and relevant parallel text to accurately convey original information. This report analyzes the difficulties in translation from the lexical, syntactic, and textual levels through case study. It mainly solves the translation difficulties at the lexical level by employing conversion and omission, solves the translation difficulties at the syntactic level by utilizing the translation techniques such as voice change, division, and amplification, and achieves coherence and cohesion at the textual level through the translation techniques such as substitution and rearrangement. The translator hopes to achieve effective communication under the guidance of communicative translation theory.
