A Report On The C-E Translation Of Aviation Culture: Theory,Practice And Industrial Development(Chapter 12)

For the purpose of focusing on building an industrial system of aviation economy and creating new momentum for economic growth,the People’s Government of Henan Province issued “the Circular on the Publication of the 14 th Five-Year Plan for the Development of Aviation Economy in Henan Province” in 2021,which proposes the establishment of University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and school of aero-engine,the construction of public cultural and tourism facilities such as the industrial park and science education bases of the aviation culture,to explore the potential of aviation culture.Deepen the industrial chain of aviation culture and promote the development of aviation economy with aviation culture.This book Aviation Culture: Theory,Practice and Industrial Development is a comprehensive study of the theory,practice and industrial development of aviation culture,aiming to provide a reference for the industry,academia and government departments to make decisions.Its chapter 12 “the Industrial Chain of Aviation culture”is used as the source text for this translation practice.This aviation cultural text mainly introduces information related to aviation cultural industry,which is characterized by strict and accurate language,a variety of words,lots of “Shi” and “Jiang” constructions,as well as the phenomenon of topic continuation and topic shift.Based on Newmark’s communicative translation,this translator tries to make the target language readers get the same reaction as the source language readers under the premise of accurately conveying the information of the source text.The translator selects and analyzes the challenging aspects with text characteristics in this aviation cultural text in the form of case analysis.At the lexical level,the translator solves the translation of technical terms,same general words in different contexts and figurative expressions by analyzing their contextual meaning and determining their appropriate expressions;at the syntactic level,the translator classifies “Shi” and “Jiang” constructions,analyzes the logical relationships in the sentences,and adjusts the sentence structure and highlights the logical relationships;at the textual level,the translator enriches the different expressions of the same subject for the translation for the phenomenon of topic continuation,and the translator carefully analyzes the inner logical relationship between sentences and complements logical connectors to make the sentence structure tighter for the translation of the phenomenon of topic shift.And its translation principles are accuracy,reader-centeredness,and emphasis on the comprehension and reaction of the target language readers.And the translation is in line with the reading habits of the target language readers so that the readers of the target language readers can easily understand and accept the information that the source text wants to convey.The translator uses communicative translation to guide the translation of the aviation cultural text in this translation practice,hoping to make a reference for future translation research of this kind of text and provide a possible way for the foreign communication of Chinese aviation culture.At the same time,the translator also gets a lot of inspirations from this translation practice,and has more thoughts for future translation practice and research.
