A Report On C-E Translation Of Annual Report On The Development Of China’s Investment (2020) (Excerpts)

This paper is a report on C-E translation of Annual Report on the Development of China’s Investment(2020),published by the Social Sciences Academic Press(CHINA).Economic report is a kind of report that evaluates and forecasts the development and trend of future economic activities on the basis of profound investigation of objective economic activities in a specific period and analysis of economic information with scientific methods.This practice report includes task description,process description,case analysis and conclusion.Concerning the text function,the original text belongs to the practical and informative text.The report mainly focuses on the case analysis,which analyzes the translation of economic terms,long and complex sentences and how to ensure the logic and coherence of the target text from lexical,syntactical and textual levels under the guidance of Newmark’s communicative translation theory.At the lexical level,the translator adopts literal translation and determination from the parallel texts;at the syntactic level,the translator analyzes the structure of long and complex sentences through linear translation,inverse translation,splitting and restructuring;at the textual level,the translator adjusts the word order and adds conjunctions to ensure the coherence and logic of the target text,as for the redundancy of the translation,the translator uses the omission translation method.Finally,by summarizing the problems encountered in the translation practice,the translator obtains some reflections and enlightenment.Through this translation practice,the translator has got some experience of translating the C-E economic texts and exercised the ability to solve problems,thus laying a solid foundation for future study and work.
