The source text of this translation practice is excerpted from Creating the Social Venture,a book published in 2016 by Susan Coleman and Dafna Kariv.Entrusted by her supervisor,the author is responsible for translating the third and fourth chapters of the book,which mainly describes the characteristics of social entrepreneurs and how they create social value.This report will elaborate on the translation problems,analyze the causes and put forward the solutions on the basis of the “Comprehension,Expression,Adaptation”(CEA)Translation Framework proposed by Li Changshuan.In the aspect of comprehension,the translator uses different means to understand the source text such as logical thinking,internal tools and external tools.In the aspect of expression,the translator adopts the translation methods of transliteration and compound word formation for proper nouns,and changes passive voice to active voice and adjusts the sentence structure for long and difficult sentences to make the translation smoother and more authentic.In the aspect of adaptation,the translator adopts the translation techniques of amplification,omission and changing the form of source text to ensure that the translation conforms to the expression habits of the target language.In addition,the translator summarizes the gains and shortcomings of the practice,hoping that this translation practice can provide thinking and reference for relevant translation researchers and learners.
