As a new entrepreneurial model, social entrepreneurship aims to solve social problems and meet social needs by commercial means,so it has attracted much attention in China. This project is an English-Chinese translation practice report excerpted from chapters7 and 8 of Creating the Social Venture. It mainly discusses and analyzes the entrepreneurial process and the formation of entrepreneurial teams, and then sorts out typical cases on social entrepreneurship, which will have a certain reference value to China, where social entrepreneurship is still in the primary stage. As a non-literary text, the book has a unique language style, containing a large number of professional vocabulary and complicated sentences.Guided by the three rules of Skopos theory, this translation project adopts different translation methods in dealing with problems encountered. In terms of lexical level, the translator adopts the methods such as semantic extension and conversion to make the translation more faithful to the source text;in syntactic level, division and reverse translation are adopted to solve the problems caused by different expression habits between Chinese and English;in terms of textual level, amplification and omission make the translation more logical and readable;and in cultural level, literal translation and free translation eliminate the barriers on cultural differences between Chinese and English. Finally, the translator evaluates and summarizes the translation report. After finishing the project, the translator hopes it can not only provide text reference for this kind of informative text, but also provide reference for the people who study related fields of social entrepreneurship. |
