As a newly emerging business model,social entrepreneurship is credited with helping many countries to address social needs and promote economic development,especially developed countries like Israel.However,social entrepreneurship in China remains in the middle of development,so this report announces the practicality of introduce of overseas experience.The original text of this report is an excerpt from Creating the Social Venture,a book coauthored by Susan Coleman,a Professor of finance at the University of Hartford,US,and Dafna Kariv,a Senior Lecturer at the College of Management Academic Studies,Israel.The excerpted chapters include chapters 9,10 and 13,which mainly describe management strategies and practices of social enterprises,financing strategies for for-profit and non-profit ventures,as well as the impact of social entrepreneurship and its best practice.The source text is an informative text as it is objective,concise and logical in language,and it focuses on the transmission of information and knowledge.In light of these features,the translator applies Tytler’s three principles of translation as the theoretical guidance of this report,thus effectively addressing difficulties and challenges in the process of translation.In this report,the translator zeroes in on examples that puzzle her most to analyze what translation methods and techniques should be used in order to achieve the requirements of the three principles.In order to completely reproduce the ideas and contents of the source text,the translator adopts such translation methods and techniques as conversion of word class,liberal translation and amplification;in terms of preserving the writing style and manner of the source text,the translator uses linear translation,cohesion and coherence;for the effects that the translation is as smooth as the original works of the target language,the translator adopts multiple methods,including division,combination,voice transformation and so on.This translation project allows the translator to have an in-depth understanding of Tytler’s three principles,creating opportunities for solving practical problems in translation.What’s more,the translator establishes the glossary of social entrepreneurship and implements translation assessment.At last,the translator summarizes the experience and limitations of translation practice,in hope of serving as a reference for the future translation of informative text. |
