| This translation text is selected from Australia and the Great Depression(chapter 7)written by C.B.Schedvin,which belongs to the economic text.The selected chapter mainly describes the economic conditions of Australia during the Great Depression.Under the guidance of Eugene Nida’s equivalence theory of translation,the translator makes a case study from three aspects according to the characteristics of the source text.This report is comprised of four chapters.Chapter one is the translation task description,which introduces the background of the translation task and the characteristics of economic texts.Chapter two is divided into pre-translation preparation,translation process and quality control.Chapter three is the case analysis.Under the guidance of Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence translation theory,the translator sorted out the problems encountered in translation of abstract nouns,attributive clauses and multiple adverbials,and adopted translation methods including conversion,preposition and repetition,and so on.Chapter four is the conclusion,including reflections,limitations and proposals on this translation practice.Through this translation practice,the translator hopes to find out the her shortcomings of translating habits and makes corresponding correction so as to improve the translation ability. |
