| This paper is a translation practice report. The translator selects pages 213-232 from Australia and the Great Depression as translation material. This book was written by Australian author C.B.Schedvin and published by The University of Sydney Press in 1970.The source text is normative, logical, real and full of economic glossaries,so it belongs to an economic text.According to the characteristics of source text, the translator carries out the case analysis from vocabulary, sentence and text under the guidance of Vermeer’s Skopos Theory.Firstly,in terms of the Polysemy, the translator adopts three translation strategies:selection of word meaning based on part of speech, context, and collocation under the guidance of the fidelity rule.Secondly, under the guidance of the fidelity and coherence rule, the strategies of translating into Chinese passive sentences, active sentences, and sentences without a subject are used to translate English passive sentences. Finally, the translator is guided by the coherence rule and explores the translation method of lexical cohesion and sentence coherence in discourse. It is hoped that this translation practice report will make a modest contribution to the translation study of the same genre. |
