Translation Report On Economic Texts From The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence Theory

With the continuous development of the Internet,Internet celebrities live streaming is gradually becoming popular in China.Many Internet celebrities use their fame to sell goods to their fans through live streaming,short videos or endorsements,and the Internet celebrity economy not only promotes economic development,but also plays a role in promoting the spread of culture.This report selects some texts related to the Internet celebrity economy from the People’s Daily as translation materials,and uses the theory of functional equivalence as a guiding theory for the practical study of Chinese to English translation.Under the guidance of functional equivalence theory,translator pays attention to readers’ reflections and strives to achieve functional equivalence between the original text and the translated text.Guided by the theory of functional equivalence,this report explores the method of translating texts on the Internet celebrity economy,summarizes the translation rules of such texts through translation practice,and publicizes the economic model of the Internet celebrity economy more widely.As a new economic model,it has contributed to the development of China’s economy to a certain extent,while at the same time it has had an impact on the spread of Chinese culture abroad,and under this dual influence,the translation of such texts is necessary.Finally,the translator seeks to combine theory and practice in the translation process.In order to achieve these aims,this practice report adopts a case study method to explore the translation of Internet celebrity economic texts under the guidance of functional equivalence theory,and at the same time draws on the experience from other scholars’ texts in order to better complete the translation practice and summarize the translation skills.In conclusion,the functional equivalence theory can effectively guide this translation task.The author hopes that through this translation practice of Chinese to English translation of Internet celebrity economy,it can provide translation ideas to summarize translation methods and techniques for future scholars studying such texts,while spreading the long-standing Chinese culture to the world and making more foreign language readers understand Chinese culture.
