A Report On The C-E Simulated Interpreting Practice Of Lecture On "Low Carbon Exploration In Business Sustainability"

The report is based on a simulated consecutive interpretation task for an online lecture on “Low Carbon Exploration in Business Sustainability” held in May,2022.Guided by the Interpretive theory,the interpreter analyzed problems and challenges encountered during the interpreting process and tried to provide suitable coping skills to deal with them.Interpretative Theory deems that the purpose of interpretation is to convey the sense contained or implied in the language.This report focuses on the application of the theory in three interrelated phases,like comprehension,deverbalization and re-expressing during the interpreting process,through the analysis of examples in this practice.This report starts with task description,introducing background information and requirements of the task,and proceeds to describe interpreting process and to expound briefly on the Interpretative Theory.Challenges encountered during the interpreting process are illustrated with cases further analyzed under the guidance of Interpretive Theory and coping skills like adaption,amplification,omission,and conversion etc.,are properly provided for later practice in similar field.It is hoped that the importance of pre-interpreting preparation,language skills and required comprehensive competence for an interpreter may service as a reminder for future interpreting learners.
