A Study On The Presentation Of Youth Images And The Construction Of Youth Culture In New Mainstream Films

The development of the world cinema today shows a trend of gradual youthfulness,and the new mainstream films born in China can best reflect the situation of youth culture under the mainstream ideology in their portrayal of youth and the telling of youth stories.This paper mainly takes new mainstream films since the new century as research samples,uses textual analysis and comparative analysis as the main research methods,and combines interdisciplinary research to explore how youth culture is constructed in new mainstream films from three aspects: characterization,thematic connotation and expression.This paper finds that new mainstream films are gradually becoming youthful with the change of the times,and the youth culture and mainstream culture contained in them show a trend of continuous interaction and integration.In the construction of youth culture in the new mainstream films,first of all,in the portrayal of characters,heroic young people are gradually stepping down from the altar and developing in the direction of personalization,everydayness and idolization,and the telling of heroic stories is also developing from individual to group image,while constructing multi-dimensional situations to guide the value judgment of the audience;secondly,in terms of thematic connotations,the collective and the individual are constantly seeking a balance in the process of playing,and youth culture begins to play an active role in the mainstream ideology;the young generation is moving from rebellion against their fathers to understanding and inheritance,and the intergenerational relationship between fathers and children is moving from conflict to reconciliation;the female youth is moving from being the spokesperson of suffering and the carrier of political propaganda to the issuer of words and the dominator of actions,and the disappearing female gender identity is revived in the mainstream narrative,and the life narrative is moving from serious to poetic;finally,in terms of expression,the new mainstream films have shifted towards genre,with a young and diversified narrative perspective,a narrative method that breaks the linearity,and a humorous narrative language with a sense of network,thus resonating with young audiences.
