Research On The Relevance Between Youth Subculture And Mainstream Culture In Network Variety Show

Compared with the mainstream culture,subculture itself has the characteristics of marginality and weakness,also there are differences and identifications.Youth subculture is a unique cultural context formed under the dominant social form of mainstream culture.The culture of the youth generation is full of youthful and various.The freedom and openness of the network media make the youth subculture with resistance characteristics develop independently and freely,which also competes for more discourse rights when it plays the right game with the mainstream culture.With the rapid development of vertical subdivision network,this paper focuses on the popular youth subculture variety show Street Dance of China as an example to analyze the expression of youth subculture symbols and styles in the program,as well as the mainstreaming of youth subculture in the process of “ritual resistance”.In the process of cultural production and cultural output,this paper analyzes how to absorb youth subculture characteristics and compile them in the ideological and commercial fields.Based on the research results of youth subculture of Birmingham School,combined with the theory of“post subculture” put forward under the new media environment and the concept of “cultural evolution” put forward by Gu Yizhou,this paper comprehensively uses the methods of in-depth interview,text analysis and case study to give power and counteract to youth subculture by mainstream culture under the current media environment,as well as the new relevance between them.This paper analyzes the relevance between the youth subculture and the mainstream culture in the network variety show as well as their influence and future trend..It is undeniable that the youth subculture and the mainstream culture are not completely opposite.Take the popular network variety show Dance of China as an example,the multi subculture can even be said to be a supplement to the mainstream culture.We do see that youth subculture inevitably permeated the mainstream culture after “cultural evolution”.At the same time,we also see that the leading social stratum reshaped the communication form of youth subculture and injected the core values of today’s society.Therefore,youth subculture hasadvantages for the dissemination of mainstream culture certainly.It uses more youthful expression to attract young people’s eyes and obtains the approval of youth groups for the mainstream values of society.Therefore,we should reflect on the problems existing in the dissemination of youth subculture and treat this culture phenomenon actively,positively and rationally.
