Study On Measure Word Interpretation Of Pleco Chinese Dictionary For Second Language Learners

With the development of technology,electronic dictionaries are frequently used and welcomed by Chinese learners.As a special part in Chinese,measure words have wide origins,complex classifications,complicated matching principles which are highly used in daily life,also is the key point of Chinese learning.This thesis select 72 measure words in Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education,comparing Pleco with a popular dictionary The Commercial Press Learner’s Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese and a specialized measure words dictionary A Chinese-English Dictionary of Measure Words to analyze the pattern of interpretation and illustration in Pleco,summarize the defaults and bring out specific suggestions,hoping to give reference to further study.This thesis is divided into five chapters to discuss:The first chapter is introduction,which summarizes the purpose and significance of the thesis,demonstrates the research subjects and concludes the study by scholars in Chinese Dictionary and Electronic Dictionary.In the second chapter,based on the study about the marking parts of the speech,the principal of interpretation and illustration in Chinese Dictionary and the measurement of interpretation,taking the common part as standard to analyze the interpretation pattern in Electronic Dictionary.The third chapter analyzes the interpretation feature of Pleco from‘the marking part of the speech,the separation and arrangement of the meaning,the way of interpretation,to the type of illustration’ four aspects,concluding the component and type of interpretation.The fourth chapter is mainly about offering suggestions to interpretation of Pleco.There are six thorough suggestions ‘offer hierarchical marks of the speech,make concise and understandable interpretations,define the precise range of collections,adopt multiple classifications,give practical and useful illustrations,carry forward the advantages of Electronic Dictionary’ to fulfill higher standard.On the basis of former discussion,taking the measure word‘趟’as an example,offering an example of the compilation of Chinese Electronic Dictionary for second language learners,with a view to provide reference opinions and suggestions for the future construction and compilation of Electronic dictionary.The fifth chapter is the summary of the thesis.
