| For the first time since the founding of New China,the teaching community that had existed in China for thousands of years was given the new identity of people’s teacher,which was unique to teachers in New China as opposed to traditional teachers and teachers under the capitalist system.The establishment of the newly emerging regime meant a radical change in the political,economic and cultural aspects of China.As a mass communication medium,the image of teachers portrayed in films to a certain extent reflects the social values of a certain period.This dissertation explores the image of teachers in the films of the "Seventeen Years" through images with the help of film theories,and conducts a systematic study of the image of teachers who first acquired the status of people’s teachers,in an attempt to explore its useful reflections and insights on the image of teachers in contemporary cinema and on the personality shaping of teachers in contemporary reality.This paper is divided into five chapters,except for the introductory and concluding sections.The introductory section briefly describes the background and significance of this paper,and details the current status of research on the image of teachers in Chinese films and the image of teachers in Chinese films of the "Seventeen Years" period,as well as the relevant concepts,research methods,theoretical foundations,research ideas and innovations.In the first chapter,we analyze the background of the construction of the image of teachers in "17 years" films,and explore the realistic context of the image of teachers in "17 years" films from three aspects: history and culture,film function,and educational situation.In the second chapter,the characteristics of teachers’ images in the films of this period are summarized into four types,namely,ideal teachers who conform to the development of the times,"soul engineers" who shape students’ thinking,people’s teachers who are engaged in production and construction,and teachers who are the pioneers of the old era.Chapter 3 analyzes how the audiovisual elements effectively present the contemporary image of teachers in this period.It mainly explores the style of its camera language such as scenery,composition and montage,as well as the representation of sound elements such as lines and music,and the effective shaping of the image of teachers in films by visual elements such as costumes and performances.Chapter 4 analyzes the social value and practical significance of teacher portrayal.The social value includes the on-screen group portrait of educators under the new regime and the writing of the collective memory of the teacher group.The practical significance of the film is its literary and artistic educational function: first,the transmission of patriotism and the promotion of collectivism,and second,the dissemination of the new image of the people’s teachers in the new China.Chapter 5 explores how the portrayal of teachers in "Seventeen Years" films can bring about reflections on the portrayal of teachers in contemporary films and enlighten the professional development and image enhancement of teachers in reality.Firstly,we analyze the shortcomings in the portrayal of teachers in "Seventeen Years" films in terms of artistic characteristics and ideological expressions,and secondly,we reflect on the creative dilemmas of teachers in contemporary films in light of the shortcomings and analyze its role as a mirror for the portrayal of teachers in contemporary films.In the concluding section,we summarize the salient features of the portrayal of teachers in Chinese films of "17 years" and their reference role in the portrayal of teachers in contemporary films,and inspire the contemporary films to grasp the balance between artistic and ideology in the portrayal of teachers;at the same time,we also bring a mirror to the moral stance and professional ethics of teachers in society.It also serves as a mirror for the moral stance and professional ethics of teachers in society.Finally,we point out the shortcomings of this dissertation and the need to further improve the author’s skills. |
