In teaching Chinese as a foreign language,vocabulary is the foundation and focus of teaching,the textbook is the basis of teaching,and the "syllabus" is the framework document to guide teaching.This paper combine these three factors and use the approaches of metric statistics,comparative analysis,quantitative analysis,and combination of quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis to compare the vocabulary of "The Road to Success" intermediate Chinese comprehensive textbook with the vocabulary of "General Syllabus",in order to investigate how the vocabulary of "General Syllabus" is included in the textbook vocabulary of each level.In the paper,a detailed statistical analysis is made of the vocabulary shared and the vocabulary different from the "General Syllabus",the vocabulary not included in the "General Syllabus",and the vocabulary not included in the "General Syllabus".The results show that the total rate of vocabulary inclusion in the intermediate Chinese textbook "The Road to Success" is low for all levels of the "General Syllabus",and there is a big difference between the two.The common vocabulary between the two reflects the characteristics of common usage,practicality,communicative,and strong construction ability;the reasons for the big difference between the two include the grammatical items,proper nouns,idioms,colloquialisms,and fixed collocations in the vocabulary list of the textbook,which cannot match the vocabulary of each level of the "General Syllabus";The vocabulary of the textbook is not the same as the vocabulary of the "General Syllabus";the vocabulary of the textbook is misaligned with the vocabulary of the "General Syllabus" the textbook contains more "old" words and fewer "new" words;In the process of statistical analysis,this paper also analyzes the vocabulary of the textbooks.In the process of statistical analysis,this paper also found that there are some problems in the compilation of the intermediate Chinese comprehensive textbook "The Road to Success",such as the omission of the lexical labeling of raw words.Finally,based on the statistical analysis,this paper proposes a few suggestions for the revision of the intermediate Chinese comprehensive textbook "The Road to Success" and how to use this textbook for better vocabulary teaching.
