Research And Teaching Design Of The Chinese Characters With "Kou" Radical In Road To Success(Advanced Chapter)

Of all the radicals in Shuo Wen Jie Zi(the first Chinese character book that systematically analyzes the shape of Chinese characters and examines the source of characters),the "kou" radical is one of those that most Chinese characters are with.The character "kou" and the characters with "kou" are both important words in ancient Chinese as well as in modern Chinese.It is essential that teachers classify the Chinese characters by their radicals so as to expound the radicals and the common Chinese characters with those radicals to Chinese learners to help them gain an insight into Chinese character system and improve their learning efficiency.This paper based on Shuo Wen Jie Zi,takes the characters with "kou" radical in advanced chapter of Road to Success as the research object.Firstly,the new characters with "kou" radical in the vocabulary list of the advanced chapter of Road to Success are sorted out,and the distribution of those characters in Shuo Wen Jie Zi and the New Chinese Proficiency Test Vocabulary Level Outline is analyzed.Then,with the help of the ancient character reference book,this paper classifies and analyzes the characters with "kou" radical,expounds the shape evolution and original meaning of them,and lists the common meanings in modern Chinese and the relevant words in advanced chapter of Road to Success,so it can clearly presents the development and changes of the meaning of the characters with " kou" radical.Thirdly,the characters with "kou" radicals such as "chi","wei","ming","hao","he","he" were selected to interpret their culture connotation and give a rough picture of ancient people’s lives and thoughts from the "food culture","name culture","harmonious culture" contained in the characters with "kou" radical.Finally,I interviewed college TCSL teachers of Chinese and volunteer teachers of Chinese who work overseas to understand the current situation of Chinese character teaching in Chinese teaching and teachers’ views on Chinese character teaching,and after that I explore the teaching strategy of the characters with "kou" radical and design the detailed teaching plan,then test the feasibility of the teaching design with practice by combining with the teaching analysis of the words of "kou" radical in the advanced part of the textbook,which will help to provide reference for the teachers of Chinese as a foreign language in the teaching of the characters with "kou" radical and its related culture.
