Practical Report On Chinese-English Translation Of Chapter 7 Of "Introduction To Shanxi Merchant Culture

The selected text is from the seventh chapter of An Introduction to Shanxi Merchants’ Culture,the business-culture textbook of the Business College of Shanxi University.It mainly introduces Shanxi merchants’ business culture,especially the governmentmerchant culture,and its influence on the rise and fall of Shanxi merchants.The translator analyzes the translation of culture-loaded words,complex sentences in the Chinese language,and classical Chinese,following domestication supplemented by foreignization.In terms of culture-loaded words,the translator adopts annotation and free translation.As for translating complex sentences in Chinese,the translator analyzes logical levels and employs reconstruction and conversion.And the translator translates classical Chinese sentences through negation according to their features.In this report,the translator summarizes problems and solutions during the translation,expecting to provide some inspiration and assistance for those who translate texts of the same theme and genre.
