Zhongshan City is one of the open coastal cities in China.The economic strength of Zhongshan City has been increasing since the reform and opening up.As an important political document,Report on the Work of Zhongshan Municipal Government in 2021 covers development information in many fields of Zhongshan City,for example politics,education and so on.Its English version may provide a better understanding of the the latest development of the city for foreign countries.Therefore,it is of great significance to analyze the translation of such texts.The second and the third parts are selected as the translation materials of the translation task,and it uses exemplification.At the same time,Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory is used to guide this translation practice.Under the guidance of it,the translator mainly analyzes vocabularies,sentences and texts.In the process of vocabularies translation,the translator uses the translation techniques of word meaning correspondence,word meaning extension and word meaning selection to demonstrate the translation methods of digital acronyms,words with Chinese characteristics and high-frequency verbs.In the process of sentences translation,this paper demonstrates the translation of non-subject sentences by adding subjects and translating them into passive sentences,and demonstrates the translation of long sentences by using the methods of word order adjustment and sentence segmentation.In the process of texts,the translation techniques of cohesion and coherence are used to demonstrate the translation of the text.The above contents prove that the use of the above translation techniques is conducive to the accuracy and professionalism of words;the idiomatic and natural expression and hierarchical norms of sentences;texts consistency,paragraphs cohesion and coherence,and logical integrity of the translation in order to demonstrate the translation of the similar texts more comprehensively.This English translation report may provide some useful references for the English translation of similar texts in the future.
