Under the background of globalization,China's national strength and international influence have improved constantly and attract attention of the world.Government work report,as an important platform to present government policies and to show the situation of national economy and people's livelihood,has drawn more and more domestic and foreign attention.The translator chooses Dezhou Municipal Government Work Report in 2017 as the source text.On the basis of the existing parallel texts and guided by the Functional Equivalence Theory,the translator chooses the appropriate translation methods,such as amplification,omission and combination to translate long and complex sentences,the new words with local characteristics,nouns with distinct political characteristics and so on,and then the translator summarizes practical experience and gives the reflections in the end.The translation report is divided into four parts.The first chapter introduces the source text,the language characteristics of the government work report and the purpose and significance of this translation practice.The second chapter describes the preparation works,time arrangement and quality control in practice process.The third chapter makes an in-depth analysis for some common phenomena from the translation practice such as the omission of subject,passive voice,complex sentences and so on.The fourth chapter,the translator summarizes the practical experiences and gives the translator's reflections upon the unsolved problems.Through this translation practice,the translator hopes to deepen the comprehension of Functional Equivalence Theory and applies it to the translation of government work reports,so as to improve the ability of translating political literature.
