| The source text of this translation practice is a government work report delivered by Zou Guang,mayor of Danzhou,at the seventh session of the 15thDanzhou Municipal People’s Congress on January 15th,2021.The translator chooses this government report as the translation practice material and takes Skopos theory as the theoretical guide.Led by this theory,the translator introduces the background and translation process,focuses on the difficulties encountered in the process of translation,and elaborates on the corresponding solutions through the analysis of examples based on its three principles.The report is divided into five chapters.Chapter One presents the background and the significance of this translation practice,and introduces the source text.The translation process is described in Chapter Two and is primarily separated into three stages:preparation before translation,in the process of translation,and proofreading after translation,with the emphasis on the preparation of the translation,including consulting parallel texts and making full use of translation tools.Chapter Three is the theoretical framework,which is elaborated from three aspects:development of Skopos theory,three principles of Skopos theory,and the applicability of this theory as the guiding theory.Chapter Four is the core part of this report.In line with the three basic principles of Skopos theory,namely,Skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule,the translator analyzes various problems encountered in the process of translation at the lexical,syntactical and textual level,and various translation techniques and methods including literal translation with annotation,free translation,amplification have been adopted to solve these problems through specific cases.Finally,the translator reviews the entire translation process and summarizes the gains and shortcomings. |
