As one of the representative composers of Romanticism,Brahms is persistent with the development of traditional German music represented by Beethoven. His works often show the characteristics of German folk songs.Brahms was influenced by Beethoven and other music masters, and his musical style showed the characteristics of rationality and rigor. The piano pieces composed by Brahms, who was in the Romantic period, did not have programmatic titles, which was incompatible with the "program music" advocated by Liszt and Wagner during that time.In Brahms’s later years, his creations tended to be more restrained and smaller-scale.This dissertation analyzes and explores this work from three parts:The first part introduces Brahms’s musical style and the compositional background of Op.117,and analyzes the musical structure and the key points of performance of this work; The second part discusses the selected performers and their recordings, and analyzes and compares the performers’ recordingsto further understand the works; The third part summarizes the selected performance versions and proposes personal performance experience. It is hoped that through the research of this article,it can provide performers with differentperforming ideas.
