China and Vietnam are neighbor countries and there has been an increase in the cooperation between the two countries over the years.China and Vietnam have the advantages from the characteristics of their economies and geographical convenience in transportation to contribute to development for the China-Vietnam bilateral trading cooperation.As expected,China has surpassed Japan to become the largest trading partner of Vietnam since 2004.For China,Vietnam also become the ASEAN largest trading partner of China.In that context,commercial Chinese is becoming more and more important and teaching materials is ones of direct factors affecting the class outcomes and learners’ engagement.Regarding the recent advance in researching on business Chinese textbook,fields of these researches are about general topics,especially those on vocabulary is quite limited.Therefore,this thesis paper choose the two intermediate business Chinese textbooks,the“International Business Chinese Course” and the “New Silk Road – Intermediate Business Chinese Compulsive Course(Business)”,as the subjects of studying,with the adoption of quantity research method,comparative analysis method and content analysis one.Two vocabulary data sets,one for each textbook,are built based on the new words in the vocabulary section of each one.Then,each set of data is compared and analyzed with the vocabulary of the “Guide book for business Chinese test BCT” to identify the business vocabulary and the upper-level vocabulary that is covered and presented in each textbook,to create the secondary vocabulary data set of each one.Then,the secondary sets are compared and analyzed on six aspects: quantity,level,formation,annotation,repetition and exercise.The findings of the thesis show that the quantity,the level and the formation of vocabulary in the “New Silk Road – Intermediate Business Chinese Compulsive Course(Business)” are suitable for learners with intermediate Chinese capability.The vocabulary repetition between chapters and the vocabulary in exercise are helping learners to reinforce and memorize them.On annotation,both of the textbooks need more work on the compilation of word usage.Overall,the “New Silk Road – Intermediate Business Chinese Compulsive Course(Business)” is more appropriate to the learners’ needs and the recruitment trend of the labor market.Based on the research outcome,the thesis proposes some suggestions on compilation and teaching of vocabulary using the two textbooks as follows:Better readiness and engagement of the learners need the compilation to be more appropriate to the needs and capability of them.More concerns on the numbers of vocabulary,the repetition and vocabulary in exercise presented in each chapter are recommended.Secondly,to improve business Chinese teaching performance,various and plentiful methodologies such as task-oriented,learner-at-the-center,and practical-based ones along with those mentioned in the paragraph above relating vocabulary.
